Become a member of SPROUT@UCLA and help empower youth through STEM education! We are searching for enthusiastic volunteers who are eager to engage with students and inspire them through exciting STEM Field Days. Join us in our mission to create unforgettable experiences and foster a love for STEM in the next generation.
What to expect
as a SPROUT member!
All SPROUT members are automatically part of our Curriculum Committee, our only club-wide committee where all members work together to make our Field Days possible!
At the start of the year, we have our Curriculum Pitch Competition, where members work together in small groups to create and propose potential new demos to be inducted into our curriculum for future Field Days.
Throughout the year, SPROUT members participate in organizing the Field Days, learning the curriculum activities, and volunteering at our Field Days. Going to Field Days is the biggest and most important part of being a SPROUT member. We aim to run one Field Day every other week. Field Days last around 3-5 hours* (including travel time, setting up, running the event, and cleaning up).
We want to provide the best Field Day experience we can with every school we work with, and having enough volunteers is crucial. So, members must attend at least one Field Day per quarter to remain in the club.
*time varies depending on the distance to the venue, method of transportation, and expected amount of time to set up/clean up the event (this depends on how many volunteers! more volunteers = less time to set up/clean up)

Finance & Logistics

As an F&L member, you'll improve your email writing and form filling skills that help us get the funding to achieve our club's mission.
Advocacy
Mental health. Climate change. Equal rights. Find your passion and advocate for it by joining our Advocacy Committee!
As an Advocacy member, you'll get to share what you think is important for younger generations to know through our Sprouting Scientist booklets.
Design & Social Media
Hate our website and think you can design it better? Join our Design & Social Media (D&SM) Committee!
As a D&SM member, you'll build your graphic design, web design, and photography skills as you help market SPROUT@UCLA to reach a bigger demographic.
